#TBR: April 2019

It’s already April! I can’t even believe it. Spring is here, and I’m doing some spring cleaning on my TBR list, getting some books read and checked off. Below are the books I hope to read before the month is over. I know last month was a bit too ambitious, so let’s see how I fare with this one. I think it’s a little more reasonable. 🙂

Rules of Prey by John Sandford

This was a book recommended to me by a colleague at my work. He lives in Austin and he’s from Detroit, and he’s in his 70s, but when he started talking about this Lucas Davenport series, I knew I had to look it up. I’ve got my audiobook locked and loaded.

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

I started reading this trilogy last month, and it was pretty good! I’m excited to continue reading the series. I’m also reading this as a part of a readalong with Books With Chloe and a few other booktubers, so there’s also that. 🙂 I have a paperback for this one.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

When I read Heartless by this author a couple months ago, I was so in love with that story, I had to pick up more by this author to see if I like more of her work as much as that one. I have this in a paperback copy, and I’m excited to jump into it! Don’t let me down!!!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I’ve been seeing this book everywhere, so I thought it was time to give it a shot. The blurb sounds interesting, so hopefully it won’t disappoint! I’ve seen mixed reviews on this. Some really like it, some really hate it. Which side will I fall on? Audiobook is lined up on this one.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

This is another one of those books that seems to be everywhere. It’s a historical fiction set in Paris, so I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it. I know I’ve really enjoyed the other similar books I’ve read in those categories, so we shall see! I have a paperback of this one.

The Mister by E.L. James

This book releases about mid-April, and I’ve got the ebook pre-ordered and ready to read as soon as it hits my kindle. I’ve been waiting for E.L. James to put out something new that isn’t Fifty Shades, so when I saw her newsletter come out a while back announcing this, I got excited. I can’t help but notice the last name of the MC in this book is the same as Christian Grey’s adopted mother’s maiden name… Just saying.

The Huntress by Kate Quinn

This is another historical fiction, but more importantly, it’s another book by the author who wrote The Alice Network, which I simply adored. I have both the paperback and audio book of this story, and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve already started and a few chapters in already. First book to read for April!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

This is another book I started the series on a couple months ago, and I’m super anxious to see what happens in this next installment. Feyre had gotten herself into a particular situation with a particularly handsome and devilish high fae, and I’m really curious to know how that is all going to play out! Paperback for this one as well.

Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

This book was selected as the pick for this month’s read for a local book club I’m a part of. One of the members’ husbands is acting in a play based off this novel, which I’m sad I am going to miss due to scheduling conflicts with my work, but it’s always fun to have things like this to tie the books to that we read. I’ll listen to the audiobook for this.

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is one of those authors I had mentioned last month that I had never heard of until recently, and now that I have, I hear about her everywhere, all the time. So last month I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and loved it. I figured I’d see what else is out there that I might like, and this audiobook happens to be available for free in the Audible Romance Package.

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

This was another book club pick for the Books With Friends book club run by Books With Chloe and Common Spence booktubers. It’s a YA mystery thriller that sounded interesting, so I thought, why not? I got the paperback for this one, and thankfully, it’s not a monster (it’s not too long).

Second Nature by Nora Roberts

This is the pick for my Romance Book Club for April, which the members of the book club voted for in our GoodReads group. I’m looking forward to reading this one. I’ve been itching to support Queen Nora lately, especially with all she’s been doing to bring attention to the plagiarism issues. She’s very inspiring! I have no doubt this will be a good read.<3 This one will be audiobook as well.

Do any of these look interesting to you? Anything you think you’ll add to your own TBR this month? Let me know what you plan to read for April 2019 in the comments below!
